SR-71 Blackbird Twin 70mm EDF Jet With Gyro from Freewing - PNP - FJ32211PG
The Freewing SR-71 Blackbird pays tribute to one of the most legendary aircraft in aviation history. Developed in the 1960s for high-altitude reconnaissance, the SR-71 set records with its unparalleled speed, cutting-edge engineering, and futuristic design. This model faithfully captures the details of the original with its sleek, unmistakable silhouette and incredible scale details, including a functional drag chute, full-flying vertical stabilizers, and complete, functional gear doors. At over 6 feet (1.85m) long, the SR-71 provides a commanding presence in the air and is guaranteed to be the star of any flying field.
What sets this model apart is the extensive list of custom-molded and precision-engineered components. From custom CNC-machined landing gear struts and unique, custom-molded pilot figures to the custom wheels and tires as well as the carbon-reinforced fuselage that easily splits in half for disassembly, every part of this aircraft was designed specifically to deliver unrivaled realism, durability, and ease of transport. These premium, model-specific parts ensure that the SR-71 is not only a breathtaking display piece but also an easy-to-assemble, transportable marvel.
Designed for ultimate realism and personalization, the SR-71 includes three unique decal sets or can be further enhanced with your own custom designs. Powered by twin 12-blade 70mm EDFs with efficient 2957-2210Kv inrunner motors and thrust-reversing ESCs, it delivers impressive thrust, turbine-like sound, and shortened landings. The pre-installed Freewing EG01 6-axis gyro ensures smooth, stable flights right out of the box, while spring-loaded electronics hatches offer durability and convenience. With its perfect combination of scale detail, user-friendly features, and innovative performance, the Freewing SR-71 Blackbird justifies its premium price and is a must-have for RC pilots and aviation enthusiasts alike.

The scale details are fantastic, it flies well, and it’s got a functioning parachute. Does it get any better? Takes a good amount of runway to get up in the air, but once it’s up it’s a very easy bird to fly. Orientation is the only issue, but that’s the beast you gotta fight if you fly a Blackbird. When you reduce throttle for landing it settles into a nose high attitude and comes in stable. It takes throttle to keep it flying though, I bet I was near 50% coming in. The parachute does its job slowing it down, but make sure it’s packed just right or it may not come out. Good news is, the grass at the end up the runway will slow it down just fine. Motion says not to fly off grass, which I agree with, but the plane is built solid and running off didn’t bother it at all. I was nervous to fly this, but after the first flight, I went right back up with only excitement. 10/10 recommend.

The design was great with newer added features like plastic around battery hatches and some leading edges. Also the hatch LED connection. Decals were very easy to apply on the aircraft. However I did lose the jet on maiden takeoff due to both motor loss. After further inspection the 4 of the 6 wires from the ECS to the motors had been disconnected and also found that the esc was held down by a plywood bar that allowed it to slide back and forth with ease. The bullet connectors from the motor didn't have a tight fit as normally would. As a season flyer from now on will be disassembling the complete model and rebuilding. But as a PNP I don't see a reason this should have to be done. Great thought bad execution. But i guess this would be on me as the pilots to go through every nut and bolt to insure things are assembled correctly.

No comparison between the two other than being Blackbirds. The whole club watched as my SR-71 took to the skies for the first, second, and third time. Unanimous applause followed as the bright orange parachute shot open. This bird is actually very easy to land. A big relief from other jets I fly. THANK YOU MRC!!! Happy to add my childhood favorite to my hanger.

Let’s be clear, this Blackbird is NO comparison to the Eflite. Stock gyro is locked in and setup was very straightforward and easy. Flew it the first 3 times today. I never thought I’d enjoy landing a jet, but it’s super easy and you get to watch that big orange parachute open; just like the real thing. All the fellas at the club clapped after the Maiden. I’m at Colorado altitude, so it’s nice to know that this thing has plenty of thrust to take it to The skies on a 6S 6000 SMC battery. Really nice jet MRC. This looks and flew like the real thing!

We have very short grass at my current flying location and the SR was airborne in less than 200'. Great flying jet and set your timer to 2 mins in case it comes in to hot on your 1st attempt to land
